UK Removals Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by UK Removals in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015. It sets out the actions we have taken, and continue to take, to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our business operations and supply chains.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
UK Removals has a clear zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, child labour, and all forms of exploitation. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing systems and controls that seek to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our organisation or among our suppliers.
All colleagues, contractors, and business partners are expected to uphold this commitment. Breaches of this policy are treated seriously and may result in termination of employment or business relationships where appropriate.
Our Business and Supply Chains
UK Removals operates in the removals and relocation sector, providing household and commercial moving services across the United Kingdom. Our supply chains include transport and logistics providers, vehicle and equipment suppliers, facilities and maintenance services, temporary labour agencies, and professional service providers.
We recognise that certain areas of our supply chain may present a higher risk of modern slavery, particularly where temporary labour, subcontracted services, or international sourcing are involved. We are committed to identifying, assessing, and mitigating these risks on an ongoing basis.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We conduct due diligence on new suppliers and contractors before approval and onboarding. This includes assessing the nature of their operations, their own policies on modern slavery and human rights, and any relevant certifications or audit reports. Where appropriate, we require suppliers to confirm that they do not engage in any form of modern slavery and that they, in turn, require the same from their own supply chains.
We are developing a risk-based audit programme to monitor key suppliers. These audits may include site visits where feasible, review of employment records and recruitment practices, and discussions with management regarding working conditions and compliance controls. If we identify any concerns, we will work with the supplier on corrective actions or, where necessary, end the relationship.
Standards for Workers and Recruitment
We are committed to fair recruitment and employment practices. All workers must have the legal right to work, receive written terms and conditions, and be paid at or above applicable minimum wage and living wage levels where relevant. We do not tolerate any retention of identity documents, illegal deductions, or practices that restrict workers freedom to leave employment.
Where we use recruitment agencies or labour providers, we seek assurances that they operate in line with our standards and applicable laws. We expect them to prohibit the charging of recruitment fees to workers and to maintain transparent, lawful hiring processes.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
UK Removals encourages anyone who has concerns about modern slavery or unethical conduct connected with our operations or supply chains to speak up. Reports can be made to a line manager, a senior manager, or directly to our central management team. Concerns will be treated seriously, handled confidentially as far as possible, and investigated promptly.
We will not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against any person who raises a concern in good faith, whether they are an employee, contractor, or a worker within our supply chain. Appropriate action will be taken where wrongdoing is found.
Training, Awareness, and Continuous Improvement
We are working to increase awareness among our employees about the signs of modern slavery and how to report concerns. Training is being incorporated into induction for relevant roles and refreshed periodically. Managers, procurement staff, and others involved in supplier management receive additional guidance tailored to their responsibilities.
We recognise that preventing modern slavery requires ongoing effort and collaboration. We will continue to review our practices, draw on external guidance where helpful, and engage with suppliers to promote higher standards across our industry.
Monitoring, Governance, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with the senior management team of UK Removals. They review key risks, reported incidents, and the effectiveness of our controls. Where necessary, they approve improvements to policies, procedures, and training.
This statement will be reviewed and updated at least annually to reflect our progress, developments in best practice, and any changes in our business or supply chains. The updated statement will be approved by senior management and made available publicly.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement has been approved by the management of UK Removals and represents our commitment to maintaining ethical standards and protecting the rights and dignity of all workers connected to our business.
